Big Day Out – Aftermath 1

Segue Boiler Room 2008Segue hit the Boiler Room stage at Gold Coast Big Day Out festival at exactly 1:15pm on Sunday the 20th of January to the sound of synth note, which was D3 to be exact. Held by Dave’s right index finger as the band geared up to drop it’s live progressive house and tech set. At 1:35pm Monday, the band and it’s crew are in various locations and states though from all accounts, there is an incredible amount of HD and standard def video footage, photographs and audio recordings to assemble over the coming week. Watch for our FlickR galleries. For those that missed the set the band was joined on stage by drummer Kris Ko from live d’n'b act Silent Shadow. Manning an acoustic and digital drum kit for the closing half of the set, Kris added a tough tribal feel to the acid tech portion of the set. A few thousand in attendance seemed to agree, it sounded rather nice.

Birthday fun for Leo

birthday muppet Today is the birthday for Segue’s resident DJ and the sequence mixing backbone of the live shows. We all had a great laugh at some of the birthday emails and the various silly images, including this hilarious one concocted by a local friend Stu. Paying homage to Leo’s birthday of course, this also references the gig Segue performed in space suits and the trainspotters out there might get the reference to the Muppets characters “Statler and Waldorf”, a name shared by Leo’s previous live act. Top work Stu! For those living in our hometown of Brisbane, Australia, feel free to come on down to a rocking event called Colours at Moon Bar in Fortitude Valley on Friday night. Leo will be taking a break from Big Day Out gig rehearsals to celebrate and our co-conspirator Kris Ko will be DJ’ing alongside some other cronies and friends for a night of progressive house, tech house and all those other good things. We trust you will join us in saying happy birthday Leo!

A Bitrok remix of Gotye for ARIA awards

It’s a busy week for us here and the mailing list mail out is overdue, so you can still jump on it in time to catch up with some cool happenings. In the meantime a quick shout-out to our friends Bitrok. Apart from being a great live breaks act and prolific producers, they have pulled off one of the best remixes on the recently released remix album by Gotye, entitled “Mixed Blood”. If you havent heard Gotye you are missing out on one of the most fascinating and talented producers in Australia to date. Our favourite track on his album Like Drawing Blood is “Thanks for your time”, which Bitrok were given at last minute to remix and pulled of an incredible interpretation. Check the album out and support some great Australian talent!

On a related topic, extra congrats to Gotye for no less then five ARIA nominations! (more…)

Chemical Brothers – EBW9 Segue remix

Segue EBW Remix Polaroid

Here is the Segue remix of Electronic Battle Weapon 9. Its a dancefloor homage to the EBW series with our particular progressive acid flavour, and as you might notice, a departure from the original. We’ve gotten a lot of emails about this so here it is, you know the drill, right click and save as. As ever we’d love to hear what you think or if you play it out, so let us know via the contact page. Also please feel free to jump on the mailing list and we’ll keep you updated on the original tracks we are getting ready to release and gigs we are playing. This remix has made its way into our live set and we will eventually get around to editing some of the accumulating DV tapes. In terms of the track itself, well, if you’re interested in some back story, Dave explains further.

Hello world!

Hello world!

You might be wondering where the site went? For the SQL geeks, the tables were dropped. For the non geeks, we decided to purge and simplify the interface and get on with making music instead. Everyone involved in Segue is so wonderfully busy at the moment that we will have our good friend Segbot helping out with keeping the site current and implement some interesting things. Within the next few days we will be uploading some audio gems and announcing in the coming weeks some very exciting outcomes of the last month of studio hermitude and mega geeking.

Segue.
